Clubs And Activities

At Morris Catholic, all students are encouraged to participate in extra-curricular clubs and special activities.

The Student Council Association (SCA) serves MCHS as its student government base and provides students with valuable leadership opportunities. SCA also sponsors school dances and special events. Special interests and talents create the enthusiasm for the Mission Club, Art Club, Computer Club, The Shield – MC’s yearbook, Mock Trial, world language clubs, math leagues and others. Some student organizations are both service and academic in nature. These include the Magna Corda Honors Program, the Beta Club and the National Honor Society.

The Performing Arts are alive and well at Morris Catholic and all students are invited to become a part of the arts at MC. The Drama Club meets weekly to plan events and to engage in acting games, improvisation and various stage and technical skills. Monthly coffee houses are held on specific Friday evenings and provide the opportunity for students to perform songs, scenes, instrumentals, and to socialize.

Music Ministry is directed by Ms. Lynda Veech, music teacher at MC. Students enjoy performing in our Christmas and Spring Concerts and during liturgies and school events. Ms. Veech will serve as the musical director for West Side Story and will also provide accompaniment to students performing in the State Thespian Festival.

The Fall Drama and Spring Musical involve a large number of students from actors to technical and stage crew. This year's fall drama was MacBeth and was performed in the Knueven Performing Arts Center (KPAC) in November. The production was directed by Mr. Joe McCaig, English Teacher.

In early March the Performing Arts Department will participate in the New Jersey State Thespian Festival at Kean University. Students are encouraged to sign up with Mrs. Fico to be part of this weekend long event.

In May, West Side Story will be presented at MCHS. The show is directed by Mrs. Donna Marie Fico, teacher of theater at MC. Ms. Lynda Veech is the musical director.

The Drama Club sponsors field trips to see local and Broadway productions.
