Morris Catholic High School is a coeducational
college preparatory school, founded in 1957 as a regional high
school of the Diocese of Paterson. The school enrolls 500 students, grades 9 through 12. The student community body
is comprised of Catholic and non-Catholic students from 40
nearby communities of northwest New Jersey. It is located in
Denville, New Jersey, a suburban town, 35 miles west of New
York City. Situated on thirty-three scenic acres, Morris Catholic
is easily accessible to Routes 80 and 46 and NJ Transit train
service.
A well-qualified team of nearly 50 teachers and administrators,
69% of whom possess advanced degrees, staffs Morris Catholic.
The Sisters of Christian Charity have taught at MCHS since
it’s founding in 1957. Today, a diocesan priest and dedicated laity
in providing an excellent educational environment to the young
people of the area.
The school’s environment is rich with tradition, spirituality,
respect and warmth. Visitors often comment on their feeling
welcomed and comfortable in our school. This sense of welcome
and acceptance, coupled with a healthy awareness of order,
make MCHS an ideal placement for the college-prep high school
student.
In the past five years, Morris Catholic has experienced
a 59% increase in the size of its freshman class and a 38%
increase in overall enrollment. Also, the past three graduating
classes have consistently earned strong SAT scores,
giving Morris Catholic the top average scores among diocesan
high schools and among the top-ranked public high schools of
Morris County. Our graduates are accepted to and attend some
of the finest colleges and universities in the United States.
Out of the 110 members of the Class of 2006, 61% of the graduates
received full scholarship and financial aid packages to the
colleges of their choice.
These statistics clearly reflect, not just the fine academic
program at MCHS, but the high caliber of the hard-working students
that contribute to the community.
Morris Catholic has much available in terms of extra-curricular
activities, which complement our well-defined, core academic
program. Our Athletic Department offers eighteen varsity sports
including the recent additions of girl's volleyball and girl's lacrosse. We
are proud of our newly renovated, state-of-the-art, synthetic
grass athletic fields, which allow for safer, well-maintained
playing conditions and may be shared with local community groups
too. |
